Michael Mills, PhD, is Professor Emeritus and former Chief of Physics at the University of Louisville, Louisville Kentucky. Dr. Mills is a member of the AAMD and was first trained in Medical Dosimetry by Mr. Vincent Sampiere at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in the late 1970s.  Dr. Mills earned a PhD in medical physics at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in 1980 and a second PhD in health management from the School of Public Health at the University of Louisville.  He is certified by the American Board of Radiology in Radiological Physics and by the American Board of Medical Physics in Radiation Oncology Physics.  He is a fellow of the American Association of Physicists in Medicine.  

He is a co-developer with Dr. Kenneth Hogstrom of the MD Anderson Electron Pencil Beam Algorithm and is the author of over 100 peer-reviewed scientific articles and abstracts.  He is the Founding Editor and Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics.  Dr. Mills is grateful for the opportunity to share his vision about how the AAMD can plan for the future.
